Anton Harrison Ruled Out for Rest of Season After Surgery

Bad News for Jacksonville

Jacksonville Jaguars left tackle Anton Harrison will miss the rest of the season. Tests following a recent medical procedure confirmed that he suffered a torn ACL in his right knee.

Harrison underwent arthroscopic surgery on Thursday. That was when doctors discovered the full extent of the knee injury.

The tackle originally got hurt during Jacksonville's Week 5 victory against Philadelphia. The injury occurred while he was blocking on a running play. It was a sweep to the right featuring running back Bhayshul Tuten.

Harrison appeared to grab his right knee immediately after he disengaged from his block. He fell to the ground and could not walk off on his own. Staff eventually took him off the field on a cart.

Roster Move and Draft History

The Jaguars had already placed Harrison on injured reserve on Oct. 13. However, the exact severity of his condition was not fully known until Thursday's surgery.

Harrison came into the league as a top draft selection. Jacksonville selected him with the 27th overall pick in the 2023 draft.

He spent his initial time playing on the right side of the offensive line. During training camp, the team moved him from right tackle over to left tackle.

Season Performance and Future

Before going down with the knee injury, Harrison was putting up solid numbers on the field. He ranked 39th among offensive tackles in the league. He achieved an 83.7% pass block win rate during his playing time this season.

That rating put him four spots lower than fellow Jacksonville tackle Cole Van Lanen. Van Lanen plays right tackle for the team and recorded an 84.4% pass block win rate.

Despite this major injury setback, Harrison remains a part of Jacksonville's long term plans. The Jaguars picked up his fifth year option back in April. He will now focus on recovery before returning to action.
