A stunning start at the Etihad
Paris Saint-Germain showed their quality in the Champions League on Wednesday by stunning Manchester City with three goals in just over 30 minutes at the Etihad. The European champions proved difficult to handle during a strong first half, putting themselves in a commanding position.
Manchester City improved after the interval, led by Erling Haaland, but the visitors secured a 4-2 win. Ferran Torres also missed a penalty for PSG late in the match. The result handed City their first defeat of the season across all competitions.
Semenyo frustrated by wastefulness
City pushed hard and registered 27 shots with an expected goals total of 2.5, but their finishing let them down. Antoine Semenyo proved particularly wasteful, missing a clear chance shortly after Haaland scored his first goal that would have brought the score to 3-2.
Following the match, Semenyo admitted his disappointment to CBS. He stated that he is beating himself up over the missed opportunities. He also praised the opponents as back-to-back European champions with Ballon d'Or candidates across their squad.
