Gordon reflects on his start at Camp Nou

Barcelona forward Anthony Gordon believes he is still a long way from his best form despite making a positive start in Spain. The 25 year old England international has scored two goals and provided five assists across his first 11 appearances for the Catalan club.

Speaking before Sunday's clash against Real Madrid at Spotify Camp Nou, Gordon rated his start at Barcelona as a seven and a half out of 10. He explained that he wants to be consistently at his highest level in big matches. He mentioned Tuesday's 4-2 Champions League loss to European champions Paris Saint Germain as an example of a game where he felt he could have contributed more.

Ready for his first Clasico

Sunday will be Gordon's first taste of the Clásico. A victory for Barcelona would extend their winning start in LaLiga to a league record 10 matches, while also opening up a nine point gap over Real Madrid.

The forward revealed that playing in this fixture was a childhood dream. He said every kid imagines being on the pitch when watching such elite matches, even if they are never certain they will actually reach that level.

Growth from international experience

Gordon mentioned that he did not always feel respected during his time playing in the Premier League with Everton and Newcastle United. He feels that perception is changing at Barcelona because the team plays in the biggest games.

He also pointed to his run to the World Cup semifinals with England in North America as an important step in his growth. Gordon said that losing in the tournament left a small scar, but the experience helped him feel far calmer and more comfortable on the major stage.
