Edwards targets LeBron in shoe ad
Minnesota Timberwolves star guard Anthony Edwards has caused a stir online with a new social media advertisement. The video, released on Thursday morning by Adidas, was made to promote his new shoe launching on Friday. Edwards signed with the brand in December 2020.
In the video, Edwards took some playful shots at LeBron James. James, who is 41 years old, chose to sign with the Philadelphia 76ers on July 24 instead of joining Minnesota. Rich Paul, the agent for James, previously described the decision making process as an emotional roller coaster every single day.
Edwards joked about the decision, saying that James was going to join him in Minnesota. He added that he guesses James' knees could not handle the cold weather.
Hair spray jokes for Jaylen Brown
The trolling did not stop with James. Edwards also targeted Boston player Jaylen Brown. He linked Brown and James together in a joke about hair products.
Edwards said that Philadelphia has some of the best barbers in the world. He joked that James and Brown are going to have a lot of hair enhancements going on in the locker room.
This joke refers to last season, when Brown's black hair enhancement spray appeared to rub off onto the jerseys of multiple opponents during games.
Teaming up with LaMelo Ball
Edwards also spoke about his excitement for the upcoming season with his new teammate, LaMelo Ball. He referred to Ball as his twin and expressed happiness that they brought him to the Twin Cities.
The guard said they have been working out together and doing many things. However, he made it clear that they will not be carpooling if Ball is the one driving, which is a reference to Ball's driving style.
Fans of the Timberwolves will now look forward to January 16. That is the date when Minnesota will face James and the Philadelphia 76ers in a highly anticipated regular season matchup.
