Big debut in Washington

Anthony Davis made a strong start for the Washington Wizards on Wednesday night. He scored 34 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead his team to a 128-116 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks.

Fans in Washington were excited right from the opening tip. Davis heard MVP chants from the home crowd before the first quarter was even over. He helped keep the Wizards close during the third quarter, giving the local fans plenty to cheer about throughout the night.

"Been nine months since I played a real game," Davis said. "I had so much fun tonight. A lot of emotion, a lot of energy."

How the Wizards took control

Washington acquired Trae Young and Davis last season, but Davis was injured and did not play after the trade. The team was also without top overall draft pick AJ Dybantsa on Wednesday night due to an ankle injury.

Even without Dybantsa, Washington found a way to win. Poor perimeter shooting held the Wizards back for most of the night. That changed early in the fourth quarter when a massive 21-2 run allowed Washington to take full control of the game.

Trae Young played a major role alongside Davis, finishing with 20 points and 13 assists. Young played a few games last season for Washington, but this was his first time sharing the floor with Davis. "I want to help him get the MVP," Young said. "Nights like tonight, and we continue to win games, he's going to be in the conversation."

Fan support and future outlook

The energetic atmosphere made a big impression on the team. Washington has won only 50 games combined over the past three seasons, making this crowd extra special for the roster.

"Some guys on our team who has been here for a little bit was like, 'We haven't had this in a little bit,'" Davis said. He also credited the fans for helping them push past Milwaukee. "The crowd was great. They were into it," Davis said. "They got us over the hump."

Davis can become a free agent after this season, which means his future in Washington remains uncertain. He could also fetch a significant return in a trade. For now, his presence gives Washington a big lift on the floor.
