Good News for the Vikings
Minnesota Vikings running back Aaron Jones Sr. avoided a serious knee injury on Sunday. Coach Kevin O'Connell confirmed on Monday that the player is currently considered day to day.
Jones has played through a sprained MCL in his left knee for most of the season. He served as the primary back for four games while Jordan Mason recovered from a fractured thumb.
How the Colts Game Played Out
Mason returned for Sunday's 16-10 victory over the Colts. Jones started the match and took the first four carries of the game.
Mason finished the day with a team high 15 carries for 68 yards. Jones contributed 26 yards on eight carries during the contest.
The Final Play
The injury happened on the last carry for Jones, which was a 17-yard run down the right sideline with 12-22 remaining in the fourth quarter.
He absorbed a hit on his left leg from Colts safety A.J. Haulcy at the end of that run.
Looking Ahead to Detroit
The Vikings have faced trade rumors involving veteran running backs for most of the season. O'Connell stated he will meet this week with general manager Nolan Teasley, as he does regularly.
For now, the team does not anticipate a need to add depth at the position before the upcoming game at the Detroit Lions. O'Connell noted that things could change as they go day to day.
