More Bad News for the Receiving Corps

The San Francisco 49ers will be without Deebo Samuel Sr. for the foreseeable future after he suffered a hamstring injury in Sunday's win against the Seattle Seahawks. After further testing on Monday, coach Kyle Shanahan said the injury got him pretty good and that Samuel is going to miss some time. While the exact duration is unclear, the team knows they will be without him for at least the next couple of games.

Samuel left the 32-29 win against Seattle in the third quarter. He was tackled by Seahawks linebacker Drake Thomas and stayed down on the turf. Medical staff attended to him before he walked slowly to the sideline, and his return was ruled out almost immediately. Backup linebacker Garret Wallow also suffered a hamstring injury in the same game and will miss at least a couple of weeks.

Deep Injury Trouble at Wide Receiver

With Samuel sidelined for multiple weeks, the 49ers are now down four of the top five wideouts they planned to have at the start of the season. Ricky Pearsall, De'Zhaun Stribling, and Demarcus Robinson are currently on injured reserve. Robinson is the closest to returning, but he cannot open his practice window until after next Monday night's game. Veteran Christian Kirk is also on injured reserve with a calf injury and is unlikely to return to practice this week.

Without Samuel, the active roster features Mike Evans, Jordan Watkins, Brandin Cooks, and Jacob Cowing. The practice squad includes Will Pauling, Xavier Smith, and Malik Turner. Shanahan stated that the team has enough players and options to manage the challenge, despite the heavy losses.
