Bosa ruled out while Evans remains questionable

San Francisco will be without star defensive end Nick Bosa for Monday night's clash against the Washington Commanders. Bosa is still recovering from a calf injury and did not practice all week. He was hopeful about playing, but head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed he will miss another game. Shanahan said they would have been pleasantly surprised if Bosa could play, adding that another week of rest will help.

Receiver Mike Evans is questionable due to Achilles soreness from last week's win over the Seattle Seahawks. Evans missed practice this week, though he did some side conditioning work. Shanahan said the team will know his availability on Monday.

Juszczyk and Thompson return to action

There is good news for San Francisco on offense and defense. Fullback Kyle Juszczyk is cleared to play after recovering from a knee sprain and bone bruise suffered in Week 4 against Denver. He was a full participant in practice on Friday and Saturday. Shanahan praised his quick recovery, saying Juszczyk has always healed fast, but this recovery was really impressive.

Rookie defensive tackle James Thompson Jr. also returns after missing time with a high ankle sprain. Wide receiver Christian Kirk could also feature. Kirk returned to practice this week after missing time since training camp with a calf injury, and Shanahan noted he could possibly play.

Other key squad updates

The team will still be missing several players. Receiver Deebo Samuel is out with a hamstring injury, while safety Marques Sigle and linebacker Garret Wallow are also ruled out.

Several players remain questionable alongside Evans. Defensive tackle Gracen Halton, safety Siran Neal, cornerback Upton Stout, and defensive lineman Mykel Williams are all dealing with injuries ahead of Monday's kickoff.
